How do you bring in the New Year?
I love this time of year. I always take time between Christmas & New Year to buy a new diary and organise the year ahead.
Yes, I still use an old school paper diary. And I am quite fussy when it comes to the diary which will take me throughout the year.
I am a visual person, so the diary has to show the whole week ahead & have plenty of room in the squares for me to write my nursing shifts in, birthdays and important dates. And it has to be small enough to fit in my bag with my phone & purse. Thick filo-faxes need not apply. I like to travel light now I don’t have to carry around the kitchen sink since the kids are all out of nappies.
Not asking much am I?
After I find my diary, I set aside an afternoon to write down my goals for the year & instead of making a New Years Resolution, I choose a word to guide me through the year.
In the previous years I have chosen:
Community in 2013, Brave in 2014, Growth in 2015 & in 2016 Consistency.
Some years they have worked well, other years (like 2016) life had other plans for me!
This year, my word chose me.
Discipline in my exercise regime. (2 days a week at circuit training, 2 days a week at swimming club)
Discipline in my midwifery job (a regular 2 x night duty a week for regular income)
Discipline in my freelance writing business (make this a regular income, regular clients not as erratic as it has been previously)
Discipline to be present with my family time, separate computer time, stop phone watching for missed calls when I have to be “on-call” as a midwife.
So this is all good in theory as all my kids are at school full-time in 2017, so hopefully my plans will work this year!
What do you have planned for 2017?
I am joining in with Bron from Maxabella Loves for her One Word 2017.
You might find your one word over there in the comments section if you are finding it hard
to choose a word this year.
